Week commencing 24 June 2019

Nordic Walks commencing 24th June, 2019

Fortunately the Nordic Gods were kind to us in the Peak District last week.  All the walkers who attended did so well on the walks and were rewarded with stunning countryside views.   Some tough climbs revealed breathtaking panoramas that were so worth the effort!

This coming week it looks as though we may have some warm temperatures so please ensure you bring water with you.

Haddon Hall, Solomon’s Temple and the Chatsworth Estate in the Peak District
Have a fantastic week everyone!
Many thanks,
Elaine

Week commencing 17 June 2019

Nordic Walks commencing 17th June, 2019

This coming week I’m taking a group to the Peak District so Martin has kindly said he will cover this Thursday’s walk which will be in Ampthill.  A relatively flat walk is on the cards with only the odd undulation.   Tea after at the Hub as usual.  With me being away this Wednesday and Thursday means there will be no evening classes this week.  However, we will pick these up after I return.  Thanks.

What a soggy week we had!  Hoping the coming week will be nice and dry for us and maybe start to dry out some of our paths that were left so muddy after the drenching!   Thanks to those walkers who came out regardless of the wet weather.  You are a hardy bunch!

This Thursday the morning walk will return to its usual time of 10am and will be from the Forest Centre, Marston Moretaine.   There will be no charge for the walk this week as there are no Walk Leaders, however, Caron and Catherine will be on hand to lead the group.  There are parking charges at the Forest Centre but also a nice place to have a cuppa afterwards.  This is a flat walk.  Thanks guys.

What a treat the walks were this week!  The Bluebells were stunning and we enjoyed both the Thrift at Cranfield and Kings Wood.   The Bluebells should last at least another week so make sure you get a glimpse before they go!  We were also treated to a lovely meadow of Cow Slips on our Pop Up walk.

GREENSAND COUNTRY FESTIVAL WALKS
A reminder that the Greensand Country Festival begins in May!  Book on via the website or text/email me if you’re interested in attending any of these walks.  Thank you.

WEDNESDAY EVENING
Our Wednesday evening class is for Mod 1 and Mod 2 paced walkers.  We will split the group into two so those wanting a pace a smidgen slower pace than Mod 1 and not as many hills can come along and enjoy this great class at Mod 2 pace.  Those wanting a fast thrill ride, can come along for Mod 1. Yay!  See you there 😊

HIIT
There will be no HIIT class this week.  Returning on the 9th May. Thanks

A QUICK REMINDER TO TRY TO GET TO CLASSES AT LEAST 5 MINS BEFORE THE START.  THIS ENABLES US TO COLLECT THE MONEY AND GET A FULL SESSION IN WITHOUT HOLDING UP THE GROUPS.  THANK YOU EVERYONE.

TECHNIQUE
This week I noticed a few sneaky bad habits that have crept into some of the techniques especially bending elbows!  So I think it’s time for a couple of my Technique Workshops which I’ll be holding on the 18th May and June 8th at 11am in the West Car Park.  We will concentrate on the arm swing and extension as well as spinal rotation.   These Workshops will last 30 minutes and are Free. Thanks!
The weather is unpredictable again this week, so remember your light raincoat!
Have a fantastic week everyone!
Many thanks,
Elaine

Week commencing 22 April 2019

Nordic Walks commencing 22nd April, 2019

We couldn’t have asked for a better week of walks in this fab Spring weather.  With the warmer weather, it is important to hydrate so make sure to bring water with you.  Thanks.

We have some new walkers joining us and I know you’ll make them feel very welcome; they are Mary M, Andrea, Sandra, Karen, May, John D and Sue.   We’ll look forward to seeing you on our walks.  If you haven’t done so already (this is for all my walkers}, can you print off the ParQ form on the website www.walk2fitness.co.uk and either scan and send it to me or bring it with you when you next come along.  Thanks everyone!

EVENING WALKS ARE NOW FROM THE CENTRAL CAR PARK AS IS THE STRIDERS TUESDAY CLASS.

POP UP FRIDAY WALK
A wonderful walk in the Bluebell woods is always a pleasure this time of year.  We are going to go from The George Inn, Maulden at 10am and walk to Kings Woods where we will walk amongst the most beautiful carpet of bluebells to The Knife & Cleaver in Houghton Conquest for a swift half.  After our refreshing drink we will head back to Maulden via a lovely cow slip meadow before entering our bluebell heaven once more.  We will of course, stop for a few photo’s before circling back to The George for a well earned cuppa!  Approx 6 miles. £6

Have a fantastic week everyone!
Many thanks,
Elaine
