Week commencing 9th October 2017

Nordic Walking week commencing 9th October, 2017

Hi Walkers,

Autumn is definitely here and what a great season for Nordic Walking.  The fresh mornings and awesome colours make this one of my favourite time of year for walking.  With the falling leaves we have to take extra care on the trails due to hidden hazards like roots and uneven ground.  If you don’t yet have a pair of waterproof walking shoes or boots, now would be the time to get them.

PUB LUNCH WALK — WEDNESDAY 11th October – Gentle Walk

Because we didn’t get many takers for our Cotswolds trip I’ve decided to cancel it.  We will however do a Cotswold Walk & Shop in late November to enjoy the Christmas offerings there.  Instead we are going to do a Gentle paced walk from Woburn to Eversholt which is 3 miles through stunning scenery. We will then partake in a hearty lunch at The Green Man.  I will be sending out the menu to you before Wednesday for you to pick your choices.  As this is a linear walk I would ask you to park at The Green Man in Eversholt at 10:45am.  We will then ferry you to the start in Woburn.  Please Book onto this walk via the website or text. £6. Thanks.

COUNTRYFILE RAMBLE FOR CHILDREN IN NEED – £6 –

The Ramble will be a 5 miler from Ampthill Park West Car Park and walking around the Centreparcs perimeter. ALL proceeds raised on this walk will go to Children In Need. Tea & filter coffee at the Hub at the end of the walk is on me. Thank you.

Black Park Challenge 10k – 15th October

Come join us for this great 5 or 10k challenge next Sunday!  You have to Register by tonight as entries close.  Go to https://britishnordicwalking.org.uk/pages/events  Open to all speeds and just a great fun walk.

POLES

It is preferred that all walkers use Nordic Walking Poles instead of Trekking poles.  To benefit from the full Nordic Walking technique you do need the specially designed strap that accompanies Nordic Poles.  For any advice on poles, please ask.  One of my walkers has a nearly new pair of Leki Prestige poles with brand new paws that are for sale for £50 if anyone is interested.  They retail at over £70 plus delivery, so this is a great deal.
