Nordic Walking week commencing 5th February, 2018

Hi Walkers,

A hardy bunch of Nordic Walkers braved very wet conditions and came along for our Breakfast walk in Ampthill this past week! Well done all of you and I’ll look forward to another breakfast walk soon!

POP UP FRIDAY – 9th February, 2018 – 7.5 miles – 10:45am
Dunstable Downs, Dunstable LU6 2GY (meeting at the Gateway café – parking is £2) to Totternhoe circular.. Car sharing available. This walk is aimed at both Moderate and faster Gentle Plus walkers. There are a couple of long steady hills on this one. It also has amazing views that will take your breath away and a Pub! If you want to know more about this walk, just let me know. A minimum of five walkers needed for this to go ahead. If you’d like to join us, please book on by Thursday 8th February. Thanks. £6

POLES

For anyone wanting to get their own poles, you can view some on https://nordicwalking.co.uk/products/2/ If you see a pole you like and it’s out of stock on that particular site, then you can google your choice and find other places that sell them. If you want advice on poles, just let me know. You are welcome to use mine as long as you like so no need to rush. You may wish to check out what other walkers are using so you have an idea what is best for you.

PAWS

For my new walkers who aren’t familiar with the term ‘paws’ when they see my walks below; this just refers to the rubber tips we attach to the poles to walk on hard surfaces and are angled to allow the walker to perform the Nordic Walking technique.

NORDIC WALKING CLASS COSTS:

All evening classes – £5
Moderate – £5 or £4 if you have your own Poles
Striders & Gentle – £5
Super G – £10
Long Distance and Pop Up walks costs dependent on Distance.
Private Sessions: £12.50 – £15

SPEED GRADING KEY:

1 = Striders (for the faster Nordic Walker, optional Hill running)
2 = HIT Nordic (High Intensity Training, Tough and exhilarating!)
3 = Moderate (2 Speeds to choose from)
4 = Gentle Plus (a smidge slower than Mod 2)
5 = Gentle (slow, steady, energizing)
6 = Super G (Very slow so extra care can be taken)

CHARITY CHALLENGE AT GOODWOOD RACECOURSE – May 12th – 10K

One of my new walkers, Adrian is going to be doing the 10k Charity walk at Goodwood in May and I thought it would be awesome for a bunch of us to go down to support him and also raise money for the Charity of your choice (this is optional) and have a great day!
