Week commencing 28 January 2019

Great to be back walking with you even though I’m a bit slow at the moment!  I will be continuing to take a break from the Striders group leaving Paul to march on with you guys.  With this cold weather I know how easy it would be to stay tucked up in the warm, so I’m so pleased to see so many of you coming along to get your walks in!   Great stuff!

IMPORTANT
Please ensure you send or hand in the ParQ forms this week. This form is required for all of my walkers who wish to attend the walks we offer. Go to www.walk2fitness.co.uk to print off.  Please write in capitals.  Thank you

Striking the ground

Make sure when you’re Nordic Walking on the flat that you are striking the ground with your heel first and with a straight leg.  Bending at the knee on impact can cause problems to the joint over time.  This excludes the downhill technique whereby a slight soft knee is recommended.

POLE INFORMATION
As mentioned to my New Nordic Walkers, here is a good site to purchase your new poles https://nordicwalking.co.uk/products/2/  You can also get poles from other websites too so it’s worth checking.  Most shops only sell Trekking poles so it is unlikely you will see any Nordic poles on the high street.  Make sure they are Nordic Walking poles and not trekking poles as the full technique requires the hand strap only supplied with Nordic Walking Poles.  Please let me know if you need any advice.
Thanks.
